The 6th Annual AI Programmer's Dinner
(2003 GDC)

The Sixth Annual Game AI Programmer's Dinner was held at the the Eulipa restaurant (a kind of Italian American place a few blocks from the conference center itself) at 7:00 PM on 3/08/03. What an amazing thing--55 people showed up, and we had to turn another 5 at least away! Incredible!

A note...our dinner this year is being co-sponsored by both CMP Media (the good folks who put on the GDC) and Charles River Media (the good folks responsible for the Gems series of books)! Thank you guys!

Some pics are below. I'll add commentary and a list of attendees later; for now it's been just too long since I put these up here.

People began gathering for the AI dinner in the lobby bar.

Alexander looks hungry, don't you think?

I don't know who this is.

Lots of folks.

Eric talks about the conference with a Red Storm guy.

Bruce has a cool jacket.

Still more folks waiting to go eat. That's Alex Champanard smiling on the right.

Look at all the people!

Even more people over here!

And more people!

Did I mention there were a lot of people? I remember (more or less) when there weren't this many AI developers in the whole industry...

I think this guy talked too much.

Bruce ponders weighty matters as Steve Rabin and others listen in.

Neil describes the size of his new Lucent oscilliscope.

Neil fondles the dinner money.

Paul Hoza describes his latest game addiction.

The buffet just prior to the Hungry Programmers descending upon it.

Dave, Eric, Neil, and Alexander Nyarek are caught by surprise....

...but Dave is quick to bring dignity to the moment, as you can see.

We see here that Dave is in fact possessed.

These guys are hoping that the guys at the table behind them don't take all of the food from the buffet!

Bruce waits for food.

Dave and Steve take pictures of each other.

Good food, good company.

Steve Rabin asks, "Hey, can we eat yet?"

Hi guys!

Jocularity over desert (no, I don't know why).

"Hey, where'd everybody go?"

Bryan stout explores a deep programming point while Jamie looks on.

Your humble...ah, forget it. That's me.

Walking back to the hotel I saw a really big Suburban.
